I want to try many different styles and use different brushes and canvases. As you may have noticed I have put the size and canvas type on each post so far. I have been using Canvas boards which are a piece of canvas which is laid and stretched across an piece of hard card board. they are cheaper than stretched canvas. I think I bought a pack of 3 14" x 18" for like $10.
Not bad for practicing.
My Gramma let me look through my grandpas painting supplies and she said I could take whatever I needed. I found quite a few small brushes like #8 flat brushes and smaller sizes there were also a few liner brushes. I was not able to find all his 2" paint brushes he used for landscapes or his palette knives. I also went through and found quite a few oil paints. some were a little old and kind of dried so I had to throw them out but I did salvage about 10-15 tubes of diff colors. As you can see I used a few colors in the last 2 paintings.
OK so I know no one is looking at this site and I am kinda just doing this for me but here is a sneak peak at the next painting I have on my easel
14" x 18" Canvas board
It doesn't look like much now with a coat of Black Gesso but this will be a colorful scene with blue sky, green grass and the sun shining through some big trees.
Bet you cant wait!! Me neither, I was going to paint it tonight but decided to do this blog instead.
Keep checking in to see whats new and hopefully your excited and painting yourself. Share some tips or ask some questions and we can find answers together.
